The Secure Community Network (SCN), the official safety and security organization for the Jewish community in North America, applauds the swift and decisive actions of federal law enforcement in the arrest of Noah Kanaye Bauer, 21, of Brentwood, California. Bauer has been charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion device following an investigation that uncovered disturbing evidence of his alleged antisemitic and white nationalist ideologies.

Bauer’s online activity allegedly revealed a fixation on antisemitic conspiracy theories, Holocaust denial, and supremacist ideology. He allegedly subscribed to extremist channels on Telegram and used AI platforms to research Jewish populations and mass shootings. Authorities also reportedly uncovered searches related to constructing improvised explosives, acquiring firearms, and past acts of extremist violence. According to prosecutors, Bauer’s online searches allegedly included “where do most Hasidic Jews live” and a query on how to cut someone’s throat for an “instant kill.”

This case is a sobering reminder of the ongoing risks posed by individuals radicalized through online hate networks. We commend federal, state, and local law enforcement, including the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and all agencies involved, for their dedication to protecting our communities. The defendant’s alleged possession of weapons, including 3D-printed firearms, combined with his motive to target Jewish communities, highlights the dangerous intersection of ideological motivation with access to weapons.

Michael Masters, SCN National Director and CEO

Bauer’s alleged targeting of Jewish communities is a stark reminder of the persistent threat of antisemitism and the need for vigilance. SCN remains committed to monitoring and countering the spread of extremist ideologies that endanger the safety and security of Jewish communities.

With the upcoming Passover holiday coinciding with multiple anniversary dates recognized among adherents to supremacist ideology, SCN has warned of the heightened potential for extremist threats targeting Jewish communities. SCN analysts have recently released several intelligence products highlighting issues related to this, including the increasing presence of organized groups operating between the United States and Canada that espouse accelerationist beliefs.

SCN continues to work in close coordination with local, state, and federal authorities as well as local and national Jewish security and community partners to ensure coordination and address incidents.

SCN urges every community to remain vigilant, review and enforce existing security protocols, and maintain coordination and communication with law enforcement and security personnel. For imminent threats or emergencies, dial 9-1-1, and report all suspicious activity to local law enforcement as well as appropriate local reporting authorities, and SCN’s 24/7 Duty Desk through our standardized reporting form.
