Ken Mead brings exceptional law enforcement and security expertise to SCN’s mission of protecting Jewish communities. With his extensive background in counterterrorism, threat assessment, and local law enforcement, Ken will be a tremendous asset in strengthening security and safety across Nevada’s Jewish communities.

Prior to joining SCN, Mead served as Regional Prevention Coordinator for Terrorism and Targeted Violence for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. For 26 years, he served in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), including as an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force member and as a program coordinator for LVMPD’s Threat Assessment Program for Targeted Violence (TAP). He concurrently served as the terrorism liaison to the Nevada legislative session in 2022-2023 and the LVMPD liaison to Interpol, coordinating international law enforcement requests in Southern Nevada.

“Ken Mead brings a wealth of experience that will undoubtedly elevate our security efforts and safety culture. We look forward to benefiting from his knowledge and leadership as we continue to build a safer and stronger community throughout the state of Nevada,” said Abbie Friedman, Chair of the Executive Security Committee for Jewish Nevada.

“We are thrilled to have Ken join our Federation and statewide community as our new Regional Security Advisor,” said Jewish Nevada President & CEO Stefanie Tuzman. “With the dramatic increase in antisemitic incidents and acts of hate since 10/7, Jewish communal security has never been more important. Ken’s tremendous knowledge, expertise, and local law enforcement relationships and partnerships will help keep our state safe and secure.”

“I am honored to join SCN and serve the Jewish community of Nevada during this unprecedented time,” said SCN Regional Security Advisor for Nevada Ken Mead. “My career in law enforcement in Nevada has prepared me to address evolving security threats, and I am committed to building robust safety protocols and community resilience. I look forward to working closely with local partners and law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish community.”

This hiring was made possible by SCN, local donors, community partners, and national donors through the LiveSecure campaign. The Jewish Federations of North America’s $130 million LiveSecure campaign is the largest philanthropic initiative in history to establish a standards-based collective security framework for every Jewish community across North America.
