Brett Butler
Community Security Director, Savannah
Brett Butler joined the Secure Community Network (SCN) as the Community Security Director for Savannah, Georgia on February 2023. SCN is the official safety and security organization for the Jewish community in North America, formed under the auspices of The Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. In his role, Mr. Butler provides security consultations, training, and direct response to critical incidents in support of the Jewish community in Savannah.
Mr. Butler work as a Community Security Director and is informed by his almost 30 years of service with the Arlington County Police Department in Virginia. As a Captain in the Criminal Investigations Section, he supervised over 60 detectives and 15 civilian employees, oversaw the Homicide Unit, advocated for laws that strengthened law enforcement. He has significant experience in community policing, working with government entities, and liaising with community civic organizations. Previously, Butler trained officers in his work at the Northern VA Criminal Justice Academy.
A graduate of George Mason University, Butler also attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico and Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond.
