Dennis May
Community Security Director, Broward County
Dennis May was appointed the Community Security Director with Secure Community Network for the Jewish Federation of Broward County in March 2023.
May retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on September 30, 2017, after a 25-year career. Prior to his FBI career, May served in the United States Army as an Infantry and Military Intelligence Officer.
In the FBI, May served in Helena, Montana; Los Angeles, California; and Austin, Texas. During his career, he served as a member of many Violent Crimes Task Forces and was the founder and Coordinator of the Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force. May has extensive experience in complex criminal investigations and was a certified Tactical Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Police Instructor, Tactical Medic, SWAT Operator and Crisis management Coordinator. He served on several overseas assignments in West Africa and Afghanistan in support of the FBI’s mission on International Terrorism. He also served on Executive Protection Details for the United States Attorney General.
Prior to joining Secure Community Network, May worked in the corporate security sector, conducting vulnerability risk assessments, developing and implementing corporate mitigation strategies, providing executive protection and planning, and conducting investigations. A native of New York, May is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is married with two daughters and a son.
