Michael Sullivan served as former Assistant Director of the Office of Private Sector. Mr. Sullivan has an extensive 38-year career in law enforcement and private sector security.
From 1985 to 2003, Mr. Sullivan served as a police officer with the Dubuque Police Department in Dubuque, Iowa, where he became captain of criminal investigations. In 1999, he graduated from the FBI National Academy. From 2003 to 2018, Mr. Sullivan was employed by Rockwell Collins, Inc., and eventually rose to the position of director of global security, leading a team of 142 employees in 27 countries around the world. Mr. Sullivan’s security team won four James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Awards from the Defense Security Service for leading a major operational conversion of an organization that was on the brink of revenue loss into an industry-leading innovator in enterprise-wide security standardization.
Mr. Sullivan was one of the charter members and co-chair of the Safeguard Iowa Partnership, a public-private partnership that identifies and marshals resources to effectively respond to large-scale crises that impact the state of Iowa.
