Our Mission

To ensure the safety, security, and resiliency of the Jewish community in North America.

Our Story

Secure Community Network (SCN) was founded in 2004 in response to the growing need for a coordinated approach to Jewish communal security in a post 9/11 world.

Born out of a partnership between the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, SCN has since become the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America.

For more than two decades, we have been dedicated to serving the 146 federations and independent Jewish communities in moments of crisis, from the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting to Poway to Colleyville and beyond, providing real time, on-the-ground support when communities need it the most.

As SCN grows to meet today’s increasing challenges, we have expanded our capabilities, developing a cutting-edge intelligence and information sharing program, a comprehensive, gold-standard training curriculum, and a network of experienced full-time security professionals across the country.

Today, our presence is more critical than ever, as the range of threats, suspicious activity, and violence against the Jewish community is more intense than at any moment in American history.

Our organization and partnerships stand as a testament to the Jewish community’s commitment to proactive security measures and resilience in the face of evolving threats.

We are creating a Security Shield over the North American Jewish community through our vast safety and security network.

Our Values

Excellence: SCN plays a key role in ensuring best practice, coordinated, and uniform safety and security programs, policies, and procedures, and their expansion, across all Jewish communities and organizations, regardless of size, location, or affiliation.

Collaboration: SCN is the only faith-based entity with a direct line to the FBI, and our partnerships with federal law enforcement, agencies like the Department of Homeland Security, local law enforcement, major American Jewish organizations, and local Federations make SCN uniquely positioned to serve the community proactively and in response to major incidents.

Accountability: During an incident, SCN is often one of the first entities on the scene, acting as a central convener, coordinator, and resource for communities in moments of crisis. SCN has played a key incident management or crisis response role in major attacks against the Jewish community in recent years, including in Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Poway, Colleyville, Memphis, and as a convening force for the American Jewish community in response to October 7th.

Integrity: SCN’s robust national training program and gold-standard curriculum empower tens of thousands of community members a year with the tools and guidance to prevent, mitigate, and respond to incidents. Once community members are equipped with the right skills, the safety and security of our community is up to each and every one of us.
